My first year with Ubuntu
Its about a year since I first installed Ubuntu Linux on my PC. I had some ups and downs, broke my install few times while trying to get some funky things going but I'm loving it nonetheless.
Yesterday I booted into Windows to do some work with Photoshop and I realized that Windows now annoys me. First the antivirus had to update then I had to wait a while for things to settle down before I could use stufff, and it looks so boring. Then I started Photoshop and the time it takes to load... not cool at all. Photoshop CS2 is the only reason why I keep windows but I found myself using GIMP in Ubuntu more and more. Gimp loads in about 1/4 of time comparing to PS. I really wish I've never started learning PS, I could spend the time learning GIMP and save some moeney in the process.
Anyway, I realized how quick my Ubuntu is comparing to my fairly fresh Windows install and it makes me really happy that I've discovered Ubuntu year ago. Its been great fun and made me enjoy being behind the PC again. Almost like back in '91 when I got my first 386 PC.
Here is my current desktop
